Charming and very different river and low mountain range landscapes, unique cultural monuments - witnesses to thousands of years of history - and the world-famous wine can be intensively experienced in Rhineland-Palatinate. Every year millions of holidaymakers come to camping or wellness stays, spa guests, city, wine and event travellers as well as business travellers and conference participants.

The main topics for the tourism sector in Rhineland-Palatinate are: Hiking, cycle tourism, health tourism and wine as well as the wine cultural landscape.

Tourism is an important economic factor for Rhineland-Palatinate.

Every tenth job in the state depends on tourism. A total of more than 190,000 people are employed in Rhineland-Palatinate directly or indirectly through tourism. With an annual turnover volume of over 7 billion euros, tourism is one of the strongest economic sectors in the state.

According to official figures from the State Statistical Office, over 91 million guests spent the night in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2014. This represents an increase of 1.7 percent over the previous year.
