Important Notice Regarding Schengen Visa Applications in Rwanda

Important Notice Regarding Schengen Visa Applications in Rwanda

On March 17, 2025, Rwanda severed diplomatic relations with Belgium. This has resulted in important changes to the visa process for Rwandan citizens who wish to travel to Germany for up to 90 days (Schengen visa).
Effective immediately, Rwandan citizens must submit their applications through the TLS –Visa Application Center for Belgium in Nairobi .
Further information can be found at the following link: Submitting your visa application in Rwanda? | FPS Foreign Affairs – Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation
Applications for national visas, i.e., for stays of more than 90 days, for example for students, for taking up employment, and for family reunification, will continue to be received and processed at the German Embassy Kigali as before.
We would like to politely request that you refrain from inquiries regarding the Schengen visa procedure to the German Embassy in Kigali or to our offices in Kigali & Mainz. We have no scope for action in this process and cannot provide information about the procedures.
For further information regarding your visa application, please contact the TLS Visa Application Center or the Belgian Embassy in Nairobi directly.
We very much regret these circumstances and thank you heartily for your understanding!
