Partnership association

Association for the Partnership Rhineland-Palatinate/Rwanda e.V.

The large number of projects and the growing importance of the partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Rwanda made it clear early on that institutional support was essential. For this reason, the Rhineland-Palatinate/Rwanda Partnership Association was founded in 1983 with the aim of providing both structural and financial support for the partnership.

The association brings together a large number of committed institutions, including the state government and ministries, representatives from politics, local authorities, churches and schools, as well as local partnership associations and civil society organisations. In addition, the association also supports private sponsors in their donation and project plans.

The association’s main tasks include the disbursement and administration of financial resources in Rwanda, support for all phases of project development and implementation, and the review of project applications and final reports. In addition, the association is responsible for applying for funding. In cooperation with the coordination office, it ensures that these funds are used appropriately and within the specified time frame.

The association runs the coordination office in Kigali. It sees itself as a bridge between civil society in Rhineland-Palatinate and its Rwandan partners. The coordination office is the point of contact and cooperation for the Rwandan side and is available to partners on both sides for assistance and information. It oversees the entire project implementation and fund management on site and ensures a regular flow of information between Rwanda and Rhineland-Palatinate.
