Handwerk hilft e.V.: Young Tradespeople, Lots of Information, and Delicious Waffles
In May 2026, 10 young apprentices from various trades will set off on their informational and educational trip to Kigali, Rwanda. Before that, they’ll be doing their part for a good cause by spreading the word about the work of Handwerk hilft e.V., the association organizing this trip to Rhineland-Palatinate’s partner country.
The association will be hosting a waffle stand on three Saturdays (March 28, April 4, and April 11, April 2026) with its waffle stand at the Pranger on Grabenstraße in Trier, offering a free, delicious snack and providing information about the association’s activities and its project-based collaboration with Rwandan youth attending the “Centre des Jeunes” vocational school in Kigali.
The Handwerk Hilft team looks forward to engaging conversations and a lively exchange of ideas!
About Handwerk Hilft: Over the past 12 years, the association has organized 16 trips to the Centre des Jeunes training center in Kigali, involving over 120 participants, including 72 trainees, craftsmen from various trades, association members, and interested individuals. A special focus of these trips is project-based collaboration with the Rwandan trainees, during which not only techniques and knowledge are exchanged, but friendships are also formed.
In 2019, the association received first prize in the Bertelsmann Foundation’s “Mein gutes Beispiel” competition, and in 2023 it was awarded the AGIAMONDO Engagement Prize.
