Ruandahilfe Hachenburg e.V. receives 3,000 Euro donation from “evm-Ehrensache”

The donation program “evm-Ehrensache” of Energieversorgung Mittelrhein AG (evm) supports associations and institutions in the region every year when it comes to social, cultural and charitable projects. Which associations, institutions or projects benefit from the donation is decided by the respective association mayors. Peter Klöckner, mayor of the association municipality Hachenburg, was presented with a donation of 3,000 euros by Ulrich Botsch, employee of Municipal Care at evm, which he directly benefited the Ruandahilfe Hachenburg e.V.
The Landscape Museum in Hachenburg served as a special handover location. In the adjacent castle garden, the association’s 10th anniversary will be celebrated this year with a musical performance by the gospel choir “RiseUp”. This concert will take place in cooperation with Hachenburg KulturZeit as part of the “Treffpunkt Heimat” program.
“Since January 2005, the association has maintained a partnership with Rwanda that is unique in many respects. The focus is on direct cooperation and exchange between people from both countries,” explains Peter Klöckner. “This develops encounters and friendships on equal terms that make life in our community more colorful.”
With the basic idea of “help for self-help”, the association supports the development of the country, which still counts among the poorest in the world today. “Our association mainly promotes aid projects in our partner district Gisagara in southern Rwanda, a particularly poor region. We are committed to combating poverty, better school and vocational training as well as better healthcare in Rwanda,” says Thilo Leonhardt, first chairman of Ruandahilfe Hachenburg e.V. With the help of many donations and extraordinary commitment, the association has been able to build schools and vocational training centers, health centers and nursing homes in Rwanda and improve medical care through the deployment of German doctors on site.
The two founding members Bernd Gfrörer and Dr. Henning Bläsig, who were allowed to receive the donation on site, thanked evm and especially Mayor Klöckner for passing it on to Ruandahilfe Hachenburg.
