Rwandan Cinema in Mainz 03.06.2026

On June 3, 2026, CinéMayence, in collaboration with the Jumelage, will screen the Rwandan film “The Bride.” The film tells the story of Eva, who lives in Rwanda and dreams of a future as a doctor, but a traditional ritual forces her into marriage. She finds solace in an unexpected friendship. A quiet film about coercion, intimacy, and the shadows of the past.

Written and directed by Myriam U. Birara, the film runs 73 minutes. It will be shown in the original English with German subtitles.
